Basic Sock Pattern (from measurements)

This pattern is designed to be as simple as possible (though not without a few options here and there) and to be easily adapted to any foot size. It starts from the cuff and goes down to the toe and the heel and toe are done the exact same way so you don't have to learn two things. I've also included a few instructions in case someone is missing a toe and doesn't want all that extra fabric flapping around when they walk.

This pattern is beginner- and intermediate-friendly, with hyperlinks that will take you to pages about specific topics, and dropdown menus to give you just the specific instructions you need for the sock(s) you're making. If there's anything missing, or confusing, please leave a comment below so I can add and clarify anything in the pattern.

Gauge

The gauge is the number of stitches and rows per inch.

Measurements

You'll need to know:

  1. How tall you want the sock to be
  2. How long your foot is
  3. The widest circumference of your foot/ankle (this will probably be around your heel)
